our story

In a world where continuous academic demands and digital learning takes center stage for childhood education, we like to go back to the basics – the most effective form of long-lasting learning for kids – PLAY! For us, it’s not just about brain stimulation – although we do that. It’s about the whole child – socially, emotionally, physically, and academically. It’s about connection, attention, intention, deliberate, heart to heart, human to human learning. Engaging with our purposeful play company doesn’t always look like traditional learning – and that’s exactly how we like it!

community-oriented educational PLAY parties, events, classes, and YouTube

We aim to educate, inspire, and expand the minds of little ones using Montessori inspired play ideas, STEM and STEAM based learning, Social and Emotional Learning, and sensory play. We promote critical thinking, analytical thinking, deductive reasoning, curiosity, imagination, fine and gross motor skills, socialization, cooperation, and more.

After 23 years of my own private-school education (PREK-12, college, and graduate school), I can confidently say that the most valuable skill I learned was learning how to think. I was taught how to ask questions, how to think outside the box, and how to innovate. Our goal is to share this essential lifeskill with the next generation of leaders.

What is Sensory Play?

At the most basic level, sensory activities stimulate the senses. They encourage us to explore through touching, tasting, smelling, seeing, and hearing. These activities also help us with fine motor skills, gross motor skills, language development, cognitive skills, problem solving skills, social interactions, hand-eye coordination, exploration, creativity, … the list goes on. Sensory play is for anyone and everyone!

How Does it work?

To engage with sensory play, you simply set up activities that require the use of these skills. For example, you can practice “cutting” in the kitchen, pushing pom poms through different sized holes, transferring various items from one bowl to another. We promise, these are all educational. And they strengthen your little one’s hand muscles for school and life!

the timeline

I spent my early years in Dallas, Texas. I attended Greenhill School. After high school, I went to college in Colorado (University of Denver) and graduate school in Arizona (Thunderbird School of Global Management). I have an MBA in international business. Strange how I ended up in education, I know! After graduate school, I spent about four years living in Asia (Cambodia) and traveling the world. It was an absolute blast, an eye-opener, and definitely an experience that changed my life for the better. I now live in Dallas again and hope to bring a little joy into your family’s life. See below for more of my story, from start to present.

1998
hosted “Camp Fun” every summer with my best friend. our paying campers were younger kids we knew. we’d do crafts, swim, put on a performance, feed the kids, and sometimes, take a field trip if our parents would allow it. we were only around 10 or 11. we even had business cards made
2013
graduated with my MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona
2014
moved to Asia until 2018. worked for a non-profit helping farmers get out of poverty
2016
took a strengths quest test and was told I should be a kindergarten teacher - I balked at the suggestion. I was supposed to work in business, not as a teacher
2017
started continuously hearing “mommy, what is this? mommy, what is that?” in my head, even though I did not have kids of my own. it changed the lens with which I viewed everyday life abroad
2017
wrote a children’s book about Cambodia about two siblings, Sunshine and Boomer, who traveled the world, made new friends, and learned about what life was like for those friends in their home countries. my goal was to show little ones how similar we are, yet how differently we might live if we were born elsewhere. it was called Our Friends Afar and it was going to be an ongoing series and learning platform
2017
incorporated Our Friends Afar as an LLC and realized that I wanted to have a play kit element to the learning
2018
moved back to Dallas, Texas USA
2019
was looking for something that made me happy to do while I worked on my series. I missed getting to be around kids and decided to babysit on the side until the pandemic forced me to take a break
2019
discovered sensory play on Instagram. decided I wanted to add a sensory element to the learning kits and maybe crafts too. wrote in my journal that one day, I wanted to teach classes, but not like a regular teacher. I wanted short bursts of class where people paid individually to come. I thought I would be teaching diversity and cultural awareness through play
2020
launched my Travel Kits
2021
launched Sensory Kits for 2-5 year olds and Creativity Kits 5-8 year olds. the kits were all educational with play activities incorporated
2021
missed playing in person again. asked my local community if anyone wanted to join my “summer camp” where I would showcase activities like I saw online. one camper joined and we had so much fun. we had “camp” in my mom’s dining room and even got to swim during the day. we did this all summer
2021
strangely, new parents with babies wanted to join “camp”. I hadn’t thought about classes for kids that age...and this is how our MINIS parent and me style sensory play class began. we used to go swimming too! this cohort stayed with me until the kiddos started school. we eventually moved to the rainbow playroom for safety and I turned it into the most magical play space. eventually, parents with even younger kiddos wanted to join the classes. and that is how BABY sensory play class came to be
2021
launched sensory products and thought I might be interested in pop up shops. turns out, I was much more into the in-person play
2021
hosted my first community play event
2022
posted about my “summer camp” play classes again online and this time, the classes took off. I transformed the rainbow playroom even more and decided to continue the play year round
2022
started providing families with sensory play parties and continued to host community play events. we even hosted easter egg hunts
2023
knew I wanted to launch a YouTube show showcasing the magic of play that I was witnessing in our play space. I decided to rebrand to Play Play Play!
2023
launched Play Play Play! with Miss Stacey on YouTube and hosted a gigantic playdate to celebrate
2024
moved into a new playroom near West Village in Uptown Dallas
2025
continuing to host classes, parties, events, and our Youtube Show! hoping to expand the business and see where the ride takes us. I'm still enjoying playing and loving your kiddos and feel truly grateful everyday that this path found me. it was meant to be!
