Using sensory pasta adds a different form of exploration and creativity to your little one’s play. It’s so much more than just a cute bin! Sensory play using pasta encourages children to dig their hands into varying textures, to explore with sound as they scoop, pour, and drop, and to learn as they sort colors, identify shapes, and count! It may seem simple, but sensory pasta is a powerhouse of learning through play.

Each sensory purchase comes with a Diversity Cues handout that gives you easy-to-incorporate ideas about how to take your play to the next level. At Our Friends Afar, we believe that all play can be inclusive play and we make this goal tangible.

Each baggie comes with approximately one cup of pasta. These Montessori inspired toys can be used as loose parts, bin fillers, color sorting and number manipulatives, and more. They fit perfectly with the Ikea sensory table.

To incorporate pasta play, you can talk about how things move, feel, smell, talk about details, cause and effect, you can incorporate colors, shapes, sight words, counting, comparing, measuring, sorting, scooping, filling, emptying, capacity, estimation, themes, and more. You can even create art masterpieces using the pasta. The possibilities are endless.

There are no special storage requirements for sensory pasta. It does not expire. Sensory pasta cannot be used with water.
